Casas Adobes Post Acute Rehab Center ranked as the third largest nursing facility in Pima County for the first quarter of 2026, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) shows.
The facility offered 230 beds—103 above the county average for the period—and provided care to an average of 184.5 residents during those months.
The center received an overall rating of 3 out of 5 from CMS, falling short of Arizona’s average nursing home score of 3.4.
Within the same timeframe, Devon Gables Rehabilitation Center was the county’s largest nursing home, offering 312 beds, while Sandstone of Tucson Rehab Centre placed second with a total of 240 beds.
As of the first quarter of 2026, Casas Adobes Post Acute Rehab Center had no reported fines or penalties.
Pima County, Arizona, counted 22 for-profit nursing homes in total.
According to U.S. Census Bureau estimates, the older adult segment of the U.S. population is on the rise, while younger groups are shrinking in size. Between 2020 and 2024, Americans age 65 and older increased by 13%, as those under 18 declined by 1.7%. Over the last century, the nation’s older population expanded significantly, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.
A study published in 2021 estimated that nearly half of Americans ages 65 and older—about 28 million—may ultimately need long-term services and support. More than one-third in this group could eventually require nursing home care, according to the study’s projections.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education organization. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
