DEER VALLEY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT: Home Learning Resources and Schedules

Deer Valley Unified School District recently issued the following announcement.

Deer Valley Unified School District's philosophy for a successful home learning implementation focuses on student connection, equity, and a smooth and simple transition so that every student can achieve learning success and maintain social and emotional well-being.

For the Week of April 27 - May 1, 2020

New Home Learning Grades K-6: Why is it important for elementary students?

These last 4 weeks of instruction are intended to be meaningful, engaging, with a focus on the most essential skills for the final quarter. New content is being taught through the remainder of the year, equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary for the next grade level or content.

Be sure you stay connected by following the weekly emails, checking the Weekly Home Learning templates on staff websites or in either Google Classroom or Canvas, and asking your child about their learning progress. Please take care of your family, but remember this time is ESSENTIAL for continued learning, connections between classmates and teachers, and final preparation for next year. 

New Home Learning Grades 7-12: By participating in Home Learning, students will support their continued learning which can result in:

Middle School Students

  • Preparation for future learning
  • Readiness for successful launch into high school 
  • Improvement of grades for 8th grade promotion
  • Continued participation in learning disciplines / habits
  • Maintaining connections with teachers & peers
  • Participating in meaningful and engaging learning activities
  • Developing experience with online learning & digital tools
  • High School Students 
    • Preparation for future learning
    • Earning dual enrollment credit, AP, and industry certifications
    • Readiness for successful launch into college & career
    • Prepared for SAT, ACT, & PSAT assessments
    • Improvement of grades for earning high school credits & increasing GPA on transcript
    • Continued participation in learning disciplines / habits
    • Preparation & awareness of scholarship opportunities
    • Maintaining connections with teachers & peers
    • Participating in meaningful and engaging learning activities
    • Developing experience with online learning & digital tools
  • Behavior Expectations for Students Learning Online

    During this time of online home learning, we want to remind our students and parents the importance of  Digital Citizenship and building a positive and productive online learning environment. Please be reminded that when in an online setting,Deer Valley expectations for student conduct still applies including the behavioral expectations outlined in the 2019-2020 Students Rights & Responsibilities Handbook. Inappropriate behavior and/or inappropriate use of technology should be reported to the school principal or assistant principal to address accordingly. .
