CITY OF ORO VALLEY: Oro Valley Parks & Rec facilities reopen June 1; guidelines released

City of Oro Valley issued the following announcement on May 29

The Town of Oro Valley’s Parks and Recreation Department is excited to welcome patrons back to the Oro Valley Community and Recreation Center and the Oro Valley Aquatic Center on Monday, June 1. Reopening these facilities has required facility modifications and training more than 120 staff members on new safety and sanitization procedures, while following social distancing best practices.

Patrons are asked to review the reopening information—including lap lane reservations for swimmers and class registration for Community Center patrons—prior to visiting Parks and Recreation facilities by visiting the Town’s Parks and Recreation webpage.

Movies on the Lawn are back! Whether you’re into hedgehogs or dogs or you just need to let it go, the Parks and Recreation Department has a movie for you. This series features great family-friendly movies on the lawn of the Community and Recreation Center once a month throughout the summer—for free!

  • June 20 – Frozen 2 (7:30 p.m.)
  • July 18 – Sonic the Hedgehog (7:30 p.m.)
  • August 15 – The Call of the Wild (6:30 p.m.)

Community & Recreation Center

Monday - Friday: 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. – Closed daily from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. for cleaning

Saturday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Sunday: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Oro Valley Aquatic Center

Monday - Friday: 5 a.m. - 8 p.m. – Closed daily from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. for cleaning and staff availability

Saturday: 6 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Sunday: 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.

What you need to know before you visit

  • Please wear a mask when entering Town facilities, this will help protect staff and patrons.
  • If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms or a temperature over 100.4 degrees, stay home.
  • Please maintain clean hands while visiting and do not touch your mouth, nose, ears and eyes. 
  • If you plan to swim, arrive in your swimwear and leave in your swimwear.
    • Locker rooms will be closed for changing, and showers will not be available at this time.
  • For your safety and the safety of others, it's critical that you maintain proper social distancing while visiting these facilities.
