The Pima County Board of Supervisors recently approved funding for the 2020 fiscal year June 23, according to a press release from Pima County.
The board approved $3,664,906 in funding from Outside Agency (OA) Grants. The grants provide financial support to nonprofit community agencies. From there, those agencies collaborate with the county to provide essential services.
The program also tries to help the economically disadvantaged and it tries to provide basic essentials to those in rural and other impoverished areas.
"The Outside Agency program exemplifies Pima County’s commitment to assist County residents in need via established and valued nonprofit relationships that provide direct, outcome-based, community resources," Daniel Tylutki, the Interim Director of the Community Development and Neighborhood Conservation (CDNC) Department, said in a Pima County press release.
Here is the breakdown on the funding.
- Emergency Food and Clothing - $721,255
- General services - $905,199
- Youth, Young Adult and Family Support - $625,817
- Support Services, Shelter and Domestic Violence - $399,570
- Community Services - $367,610
- Senior Support Services - $174,795
Funding from the OA was down 7% from last year and that is because "we prioritized funding for emergency food services," Outside Agency manager Ana Basurto said in the county press release.
