Sens. Martha McSally and Rick Scott have introduced the Affordable Coronavirus Testing Act after reports found that some insurance companies are finding loopholes to deny or restrict COVID-19 testing.
“Every American should have access to affordable COVID-19 testing as we work together to defeat this virus,” McSally said in a press release. “The fact that some insurers are denying or restricting access to these critical tools to treat patients early is unacceptable. Our legislation will protect American families and assist our country in slowing the spread, protecting the vulnerable, and allowing people to resume life safely and sensibly through expanded access to COVID-19 testing.”
“Widespread coronavirus testing is one of the best ways we can fight this virus and get our economy re-opened,” Scott said.
“Reports that some health insurers are limiting or denying coronavirus testing coverage are unacceptable and dangerous, and my Affordable Coronavirus Testing Act will make sure every American has access to affordable coronavirus detection and antibody tests when they need them.”
