Location: Sahuarita Library
Description:
Are you a poet?
Nope?
Well that's just fine! To commemorate or just manage to get through National Poetry Month, we are collecting submissions for a Bad Poetry Contest! Why BAD poetry? Because it's fun, that's why! And you won't have to worry about perfection. Or even adequacy. You don't even have to worry if it's good enough for your refrigerator!
Submit an epic poem of short length, haiku, limerick, free-form, sonnet, found poem, should-have-kept-it-lost poem, funny, silly, axiomatic, hydromatic, corporate boilerplate, pro-se litigant, or other poetic form that fits on a sheet of regular paper. Put it in our drop box by the end of April. Then ask yourself what you have done.
At the end of the month, a judge or judges will award prizes, possibly compile a chapbook of horrors, and the artistic community of Pima County will feel a bit ashamed of itself about the entire thing. But we'll all have a good time, too. And someone will win the Grand Prize! There is a clever hint available at the Sahuarita Library for those who want to know what the Grand Prize will be. We ask that you don't share this information and cause an avalanche of excited submissions. Let's just keep it our little secret, OK?
Good luck, Pima County!
