Inclement weather delayed the start of the second round of the Pac-12 Championships as Arizona Women's Golf held three separate warm-ups before teeing off late in the afternoon. The Wildcat duo of Gile Bite Starkute and Carolina Melgrati carded rounds of even par to move Arizona up to eighth place at 21-over for the tournament before play was suspended due to darkness.

"I was very proud of how we overcame adversity to post much better scores in the rain today," said head coach Laura Ianello. "Our team showed a lot of maturity and patience throughout a number of delays, which will serve us well as we looking to continue our climb up in tomorrow's final round."

Arizona's second round came to an end with four Wildcats having holes left to play. The Cats' second-round score of 4-over par, while battling driving rain, was a 17-stroke improvement from its opening round on Monday. The team carded 12 birdies on the day with seven coming on the back nine before making the turn to the front nine.

Starkute wasted no time carding her low round, which included three birdies in a four-hole stretch of her first nine. Melgrati sank back-to-back birdies on the fourth and fifth holes as her round ended with two holes left to play. The freshman left the course in seventh place at 1-over par.

Starkute shaved seven strokes off her first round and was the only Wildcat to finish all 18 of her holes on Tuesday. She joined freshman Lilas Pinthier in a tie for 35th place at 7-over for the tournament.

The Wildcats will resume their second round before teeing off in their final round on Wednesday. They will begin the final day five stokes behind seventh-place Oregon State and a dozen strokes behind UCLA in sixth.
