Senior thrower Jordan Geist added another accolade to his already long list of collegiate accomplishments on Friday, as he was named a First Team CoSIDA Academic All-American for track and field.
Geist is the eighth men's track and field athlete from Arizona to receive the honor and the first since Cody Dalton and Gustavs Kehris in 2019.
This past season, Geist finished third in the shot put at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. And while he did not compete this outdoor season, his history in the sport certainly served him well, as he has been named the Pac-12 Men's Field Athlete of the Year on two occasions (2019, 2021) and was the Pac-12 Championships Athlete of the Meet in 2018.

Nomination Criteria
- To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. The cumulative grade-point average may NOT be rounded up to 3.30.
- Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form (where applicable). In track and field / cross country, a student-athlete is not required to compete in all three sports in order to be nominated. To be eligible, nominees must participate in 50 percent of the competitions that an institution schedules in either cross country, indoor track and field, or outdoor track and field. If an institution schedules multiple competitions on the same weekend (e.g., distance runners at one location, sprinters at a second location, field event athletes at a third), then the entire weekend counts as one competition for 50 percent participation purposes.
- No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years.
- Nominees in graduate school must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or above both as an undergrad and in grad school.
