During an episode of the "Breaking Battlegrounds" podcast, U.S. Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) delved into the supply chain challenges currently facing the nation while also defending former President Donald Trump.

Arizona state Rep. David Marshall (R-Snowflake) joined his colleagues in defending Trump, offering disapproval of his indictment in a joint statement shared on Twitter that included an image of the document signed by 12 other Republicans.

“Political prosecutions will be the end of the republic,” Johnson said on social media. “This must stop.”

CBS News and other media have reported Trump faces two indictments, the first coming down March 30 when the Manhattan district attorney lodged state charges against him alleging he falsified business records.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Justice Department filed an indictment against Trump that includes 37 federal counts connected with his alleged mishandling of classified documents, according to CBS News.

Conservative political commentator Rogan O'Handley took to social media to offer his take on Trump’s indictment, arguing it is a move to keep Trump from returning to the presidency.

“And there it is, he said the quiet part out loud,” he maintained on Twitter. “[President] Biden all but confirmed last November that his team is coordinating these Trump indictments to 'stop Trump from taking power again.'"

Biden has said little publicly on Trump's indictments.

O'Handley shared on social media a video that allegedly shows Biden saying that should Trump seek the presidency, he would use “legitimate efforts of our Constitution” to ensure he does not become president again.

This statement from the Arizona GOP lawmakers, that Marshall shared on Twitter, described the indictments of Trump as “politically motivated.”

“The stated mission of the Department of Justice is to uphold the rule of law, to keep our country safe, and to protect civil rights,” the GOP statement shared by Marshall continued.

Republicans argued “under the Biden administration, the federal government has instead interfered in elections, censored speech to influence public opinion, and today, uses a federal indictment to attack a political opponent for purely political gain. It is unsurprising that Americans have lost confidence in the DOJ, FBI, and other federal agencies.”

No concrete evidence has turned up of significant federal interference in recent election cycles.
