Altar Valley Elementary District welcomed 573 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 573 students enrolled in Altar Valley Elementary District schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.2% more than the 566 in the previous year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Out of the total students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.8% of them were boys, and 49.2% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were Latino, representing 56.9% of the Altar Valley Elementary District total enrollment.

Altar Valley Elementary District roughly covers schools within Pima County and has a main office in Tucson.

Among the two schools in Altar Valley Elementary District, Robles Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 377 students in the 2022-23 school year.

A 2023 study from Scholaroo.com ranked Arizona last out of all U.S. states in terms of educational success, giving the state poor marks for school quality, student success, and teacher-to-student ratio.

In 2022 Arizona had roughly one teacher for every 19 students, compared to the national average of one teacher for 16 students. Teachers handling a higher number of students was found to have negative consequences for students’ school performance.
