U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani said in a May 27 post on X that modernizing the DeConcini Port of Entry would support trade, jobs and border infrastructure in Southern Arizona.
“Proud to be leading a bipartisan effort to modernize the DeConcini Port of Entry — a once-in-a-generation opportunity that would transform Southern AZ’s future,” Ciscomani said. “From boosting trade to supporting local job creation, this project would be a true game changer for AZ06. Now we are fighting to get this job across the finish line.”
The Nogales Port Authority said the Nogales ports of entry, including DeConcini, handled 10.8 million crossings in 2024, including 404,588 trucks, 3.77 million cars and 3.25 million pedestrians. The authority said combined imports and exports through the ports reached $34.1 billion that year.
Ciscomani’s office said the proposed modernization would expand inspection capacity, add non-intrusive inspection technology and address flooding and infrastructure needs at the port. The office said the project is intended to improve trade flow and support the regional economy.
